House meeting adjourned after condolence motion on Sayami

KATHMANDU: The House meeting called for 1 pm on Tuesday was adjourned after endorsing a condolence motion on the death of former lawmaker Buddha Ratna Sayami.

Sayami, the member of the Parliament after the 2008 Constituent Assembly elections on behalf of the Nepa Rastriya Party, had passed away on Monday. He was 72.

Now, the meeting has been called for 3 pm on Wednesday, according to the Parliament Secretariat.

It is, however, not yet clear yet if the Parliament could proceed with its business tomorrow as opposition parties have been obstruction the House meetings for last one month, demanding that the government withdraw the Constitution amendment bill it registered at the House on November 29.

Meanwhile, Industry Minister Nabindra Raj Joshi, Nepali Congress leaders Tirtharam Dangol and Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Co–chairman Rajendra Shrestha, Nepa Party officiating chair Suwarna Keshari Chitrakar and litterateur Durgalal Shrstha visited the local Bhugolpark to offer last tribute to the late leader today.

His cremation would take place at the Pashupati Aryaghat today itself, according to party General Secretary Bijay Sainju.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter and a son.
