Message from a Rovers Supporter

Recommended Posts

Hi Leicester supporters! I've been wanting to write this message for a while and finally signed up.

I understand that Leicester aren't doing too great at the moment. Something doesn't seem quite right and everybody has their opinion on how it can be fixed, as is always the case when a team goes through bad form. I've been reading this forum for the last few days, since the Man City game, and seen all sorts of reactions from you all.

Obviously, there's quite a lot of negativity at the moment, and that's understandable. How can the champions suddenly hit such a bad patch of form?

The message I want to get across here is this: Your team made my year. I'm a Blackburn supporter, and as you can probably guess, football has been a bleak old world for the last few years. However, last season was the best I had ever witnessed (I was too young to watch when we lifted that trophy, though I do have it on VHS!) and really did make me believe in football again. And it was pretty much all down to your club. Leicester City performed a miracle, and I will never, ever forget that season and those players for the fantastic experience of the 15/16 season. Your club and those players will go down in history for a very long time, I believe, and it's thoroughly deserved. Whatever comes of this bad form in this season, keep in mind that those players and that manager have acheived something that will not only be remembered for as long as football exists, but also did something that every other club (that isn't one of the top 4) could only ever dream of doing in the modern game.

So yeah, it's disappointing to see the club's current form. I'm pretty certain they won't get relegated, and hopefully they can push up the table and continue to be a solid top-flight team for years to come. Also, I hope my club will come up to join you soon, but as long as Venky's have us, I highly doubt it...

Thanks again for the wonderful season, and let's hope the foxes get over the Champion's hangover and push on. Who knows? Maybe the Champions League trophy beckons!

Your club is legendary.

Thanks!

This is one of the things that was so great about last season - so much good will from other team's supporters; I experienced it from practically every team's fans (except Arsenal and Spurs) on my travels.

Thanks for your message - sad to see Blackburn in its current state. I remember going to Ewood Park for the FA Cup quarters about a decade ago - it was the first time I'd ever seen a walk-thru in a McDonalds! Hope things start looking up for both of our teams.

Cheers.

You're right - it was definitely a magnificent feat on a par with Blackburn's back in 1995, although achieved without Jack Walker's millions of course and in a much richer Premier League than it was 21 years ago - that's still taking nothing away from Blackburn though as my late uncle and still current aunt used to live up there and I still have a soft spot for 'Rovers', in spite of their plight under the Venkys following their ridiculous decision to oust Sam Allardyce six seasons ago!

I guess Vardy and Mahrez were our Sutton and Shearer of last season! It's just so disappointing to see the same personnel going through bad form this season though for a multitude of reasons and making all the seeming wrong decisions at the moment....hopefully it will come good but if it doesn't we're buggered!

Shame more of our fans don't appreciate what happened the way you do.

I've been out for a work Christmas party and can't be fvcked to explain, in detail, what exactly it is about you; but your posts (across the entire forum) and reluctance to acknowledge how poor we are at the moment is absolutely infuriating and even though I don't know you or care to know you in actual, real bona-fide life, I wish you'd just shut the fvck up.

Happy Christmas tho. X

Vardy and Mahrez are nothing like Sutton and tw@. And Blackburns win nothing like ours.

Sutton and tw@ were both British record signings and walker bought the league. I think the keeper was a record at the time to.

Always good to know I'm ruffling someones feathers.

But to address your point more seriously, we've been shit and I haven't said anything to the contrary about the way we've played, (at least I don't think I have, but bizzarrely from the sounds it you'd probably know better than I do). But in the way I seem to infuriate you, I am infuriated by swathes of comments on here and equally wish certain people would stfu. I'm not saying my opinion is right or is better, but I really feel like to people looking in we must look like a bunch of spoilt brats who don't know how good they've had it, and posts like the OP above to me confirm it. As a Leicester fan who has been through the same things other people have over the last 15 or so years, that disappoints me. If there's anything we as a group of fans should definitely not feel, it's a sense of entitlement. There was something like a 35% increase in manager satisfaction after the man city game. I'm not convinced Ranieri is the right man for us anymore but if such results aren't proof of how fickle football fans are I don't what it is. Some people seriously suggested we should sack CR and get big Sam in. I mean come on, that's just downright ridiculous.

Happy Christmas to you too :trumpet:

Hardly warranted is it?

And how you link his wish for others to appreciate last season and his opinions on this season is beyond me. two different situations.

Think you need a few more Christmas work parties.

To be honest mate I've just looked back through your post history and I must concede that I've mistaken you for someone else. I apologise. lol

There are a lot of people on this forum who are staunchly in the 'blind faith' camp - keep everything as it is, it will come good, we must be eternally grateful and all-forgiving because of last season. That's fine - last season was amazing but Ranieri and the players can't and won't dine out on it forever. I've seen maybe less than a handful of people actually wanting Ranieri out - most people are frustrated and wish that he'd acknowledge the issues and that 442 isn't working. I can't believe that ANYONE wants to call for his head after what happened last season but you can't just blindly keep doing the same thing over and over with poor results and not expect people to question it.

All the best! :)

Haha, I didn't mean to cause any arguments =P I guess it shows passion though!

Just hope that your club doesn't do what mine has. It's hard work being a Blackburn fan at the moment.

It was hard work being a Leicester fan for many years before last season. I think some of the moaners need to remember those days before bitching about the apparent doom and gloom of this season

Oh! And before I forget, I was going to get one of the books documenting the season for Christmas. Which of the books would you recommend to a neutral fan?

The Unbelievables,if you want it from our perspective(the fans).Otherwise Fearless by the Times writer is a good read.

Fearless is the tome .Jon Northcroft

Mistake on page 189 though where he says Mahrez mishit his shot and it fell to Ulloa..In fact Mahrez realised he didn't have time for another stride and played a scuffed slice to Ulloa on his left who finished.Typical quick thinking .

Very good read please go and enjoy.

Vardys book is surprisingly good albeit a reference to booze on every page.

All the same we probably won't see either Blackburn or Leicester win the Premier League again now in all likelihood! I appreciate we had far more unsung heroes than Blackburn with Kramaric at £9m our record signing at the time, who hardly played a game but I still think Blackburn winning the Prem. was a highly respectable feat for such a modest sized club - smaller even than ours.
