How to help people affected by the fire in Cambridge
Over $100,000 donated to help those affected
Updated: 10:20 AM EST Dec 5, 2016
An estimated 100 people were forced to evacuate their homes in Cambridge Saturday afternoon, when a fire grew into an inferno that spread to several buildings.
One witness called it, "The fastest fire I've ever seen."
About 140 firefighters from 17 nearby communities were called to help battle the flames, which damaged about 15 buildings, many catastrophically.
Mayor Denise Simmons said that many people have offered to donate clothing or other items, but for now she is asking for donations to the Mayor's Fire Relief Fund.
By Monday morning, the fund had collected over $320,000.
