Kirby Smart just got another piece for his defense at Georgia.

Four-star defense end Malik Herring committed to the Bulldogs on Thursday, according to Scout.com. The prospect out of Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia, took visits to Alabama and Clemson but ultimately decided to stay at home.

“I went with my heart,” Herring told Scout.com. “I felt like I was ready before, but I waited to make sure I did not see something else I liked better or did not commit too early, and then have to de-commit.”

247Sports’ composite ratings peg Herring as the No. 4 strong-side defensive end in the country and the 13th-best player from Georgia. He’s one of the better prospects in the nation, sitting at No. 116 overall in the 2017 recruiting class.
