There is no official ratings data available for streaming series and there are no unified metrics for such shows. We do get occasional glimpses into how Internet series are doing when the some of SVOD platforms release snippets of information. That has happened with Amazon, which announced this morning that the recently premiered new David E. Kelley drama series Goliath has become “the top binged first season of a US-produced Amazon original series ever over its first ten days.” A lot of qualifiers here, but, according to Amazon, that means that no other Season 1 of an American-made Amazon series had a higher season completion rate through ten days.
There is no information on how many actual viewers the series has drawn in its first 10 days, but Amazon appears pleased with the binge high mark for Goliath, which will likely translate into a Season 2 renewal soon.
Written by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, Goliath follows a down-and-out lawyer (Billy Bob Thornton) as he seeks redemption. His one shot depends on getting justice in a legal system where truth has become a commodity, and the scales of justice have never been more heavily weighed toward the rich and powerful. Goliath also stars William Hurt, Olivia Thirlby, Maria Bello, Molly Parker, Nina Arianda, Tania Raymonde, Britain Dalton and Sarah Wynter. The series is executive produced by Kelley, Shapiro, Ross Fineman and Larry Trilling.
