Stale Solbakken rules out return in blast at Championship

FC Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken has called the Championship "brainless" and revealed he would never return.

The 48-year-old spent six months in charge at Wolves in 2012-13 before being sacked after just 30 games at Molineux.

But he is one of the longest serving Wolves bosses since 2012 after Terry Connor lasted 13 games, Dean Saunders 20 and Walter Zenga was sacked last week after 17 matches. Only Kenny Jackett's three-year spell is better in the last four years.

Copenhagen host Leicester in the Champions League on Wednesday and Solbakken is pleased he has nothing to do with English football any more.

He said: "I am one of the longest there (Wolves) now, I am getting better. If you are so stupid to take a job there (in the Championship) then you have to take the blame. I wouldn't have done it again. This is not a Steve Morgan (ex-Wolves owner) conference but I'm happy not to look into his iPad to watch players.

"It's a difficult league to manage in, when the crowd are managing many of the games they want to see chances. I have seen so many brainless Championship games, both live and on the bench."

Copenhagen are five points behind Group G leaders Leicester after a 1-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium last month and are aiming to stop the Foxes winning at Parken and reaching the last 16.

Solbakken added: "When it is a home game we maybe have to risk something more than we did in some periods at their stadium. We controlled the game but maybe we had to risk something more. But their counter ability is such that our way with dealing with that has to be improved.

"We know we have had many historic nights in the Champions League, we have beaten better teams than Leicester and lost to worse teams."
