CBS Sports: Oregon Ducks Dillon Brooks Among Best In College Basketball

It’s hard to believe that the 2016 College Basketball season is now less than two weeks away. For some it will be a welcome break from a rough football season at Oregon, but this season Head Coach Dana Altman is getting some much needed recognition for his team. In his six seasons in Eugene, every year has been competitive, but last season saw the Oregon Ducks reach new heights and the NCAA Tournament Elite 8.

The spotlight will be on Oregon for the entire season to see if they can make a return to the NCAA Tournament in 2016. Recently, CBS Sports named their Top 100 Players entering the season and two Oregon Ducks made the list. Dillon Brooks came in in the top five at number three and Defensive Standout Chris Boucher made the list at number 55.

Brooks averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists for an Oregon team that earned a No. 1 seed in last season’s NCAA Tournament. The 6-7 junior is coming off foot surgery, but, when healthy, there’s no reason to think he won’t be great for a team that could win the Pac-12. — GP

Brooks will be the key to Oregon’s success and everyone knows what he brings to the court for Oregon. For now, he is still sidelined following off season foot surgery. When we spoke with him at the beginning of the month he was walking without a boot, but the team still insists it will be the Doctor’s decision as to when he returns to the court. Estimates don’t mean much, but I expect the Ducks will have him back in time for Pac-12 play, if not before.
