Furthering its commitment to elevating women’s voices, Lifetime is heading to the TEDWomen Conference this week for a series of events, in partnership with Chicken & Egg Pictures.
Lifetime’s Broad Focus initiative and Chicken & Egg Pictures, an organization that supports female non-fiction filmmakers making content that pushes social change, have teamed up for the “Shorts on Time” film series that will premiere at the San Francisco conference from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28.
“Shorts on Time” will consist of five short films created and directed by women, each reflecting on one of the conference’s five session themes, all of which are centered on the concept of time. The films were curated by a highly-selective process, led by Chicken & Egg, which resulted in choosing five women to direct the films. Three of those directors were recipients of Chicken & Egg Pictures’ Breakthrough Filmmaker Award, which recognizes female filmmakers with an award of $50,000 and a yearlong career sustainability mentorship program.
“This collaboration between Chicken & Egg Pictures, Lifetime, and TEDWomen has been a wonderful trifecta,” said Julie Benello, co-founder of Chicken & Egg Pictures. “We are thrilled to be able to showcase five Chicken & Egg Pictures grantees who have brought such engaging stories to the screen, all touching on the ‘It’s About Time’ theme of this year’s TEDWomen conference.”

After debuting on-screen during the conference sessions as interstitials, the shorts will also run on Lifetime’s digital platforms at a later date.
In addition to “Shorts on Time,” Lifetime is kicking off TEDWomen with an Oct. 26 workshop with the cast of “UnReal” in discussion about modern womanhood.
