Maggie Walters had 18 kills and 20 digs to lead the Soquel High girls volleyball team over St. Francis 25-12, 25-19, 25-15 in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play on Thursday.

Sam Strah supplied 10 kills and 14 digs, while Jordenne Farley had 23 assists and five digs. Chloe Kimes provided six aces and 10 digs for Soquel (10-4, 7-1), which will host San Lorenzo Valley on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Santa Cruz 3, at SLV 0 >> Outside hitter Zoe Fairlie had eight kills to lead the Cardinals to the SCCAL win, 27-25, 25-9, 25-13.

Santa Cruz setter Kianna Lee added six kills, 21 assists and one block.

Santa Cruz (4-13, 4-4) hosts Aptos on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

At Harbor 3, Mount Madonna 1 >> Dani Koch had 12 kills, three aces and six digs as Harbor won 25-19, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20 in SCCAL play.

Jordyn Skucius had 10 kills and two aces, while Pearl Biddle had 35 assists and four aces for Harbor (7-13, 5-2).

Tessa Kalafut had six kills and three blocks for the Pirates.

On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., Harbor will be at St. Francis, while Mount Madonna will host Scotts Valley.

At Aptos 3, Scotts Valley 0 >> Sam Boyd had 16 kills and six digs for Scotts Valley as the Falcons lost in straight sets 25-19, 25-23, 26-24.

Marissa Espinola had a strong defensive effort with eight digs for the Falcons (12-6, 3-4).

Scotts Valley hosts Mount Madonna on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Aptos (8-0 in league) will be at Santa Cruz on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Pacific Collegiate School 3, Marina 0 >> Eliana Abrams had 12 kills to lead the Pumas past Marina 27-25, 25-23, 25-16 in Mission Trail Athletic League Coastal Division play at Cal State Monterey Bay.

Devin Derecho served eight aces in a row during the third set. She finished with 11 total for PCS (4-3, 3-3), which will host Kirby on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Kirby 3, Trinity Christian 2 >> Sonja Fauske had 24 assists and 20 aces in the Griffins’ first MTAL-C win, 25-23, 25-20, 11-25, 20-25, 15-3.

Ali Mackie had 10 digs, seven kills and four aces for the Griffins (1-6), who host Oakwood at the Mount Hermon Conference Center on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Trinity Esola added 13 digs and seven kills for Kirby.

At Monte Vista Christian 3, San Benito 0 >> Abbey Lynch had eight kills and two blocks to lead the Mustangs past visiting San Benito 25-15, 25-23, 25-16 in Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division play.

Cassidy Schurman had four aces and 10 kills, while Sjea Anderson had 16 kills, one block and 20 digs for MVC (18-3, 4-1), which will visit Notre Dame-Salinas on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Girls tennis

At Aptos 6, Scotts Valley 1 >> Mia Totah of Aptos defeated Phoebe Codiga in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2 in the teams’ SCCAL match.

At No. 2 singles, Lyndsey Mott of Aptos (10-1, 7-0) downed Elana Weingord 6-4, 6-1.

All three Aptos doubles teams — Lila and Rebecca Sampson, Amy Buchanan and Magdalena Sanchez and Kaitlin Sakae and Ava Totah — won in straight sets.

SLV will be at Aptos on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Scotts Valley (4-4 in league) host Soquel on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

At Santa Cruz 7, SLV 0 >> Phoebe Scholar won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets as did Sofia Brumbaugh at No. 3 in SCCAL play.

On Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Santa Cruz will be at Soquel, while SLV will be at Aptos.

At Notre Dame-Salinas 4, Watsonville 3 >> Sam Reynoso won her No. 1 singles match for Watsonville in MBL Pacific Division match.

Dafny Lopez won her No. 4 singles match, while Giselle Gallardo and Andrea Villanueva won at No. 3 doubles for Watsonville (1-2).

Watsonville host Monterey at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Alvarez 5, at MVC 2 >> Ashley Tesmer won her No. 1 singles match for MVC in a MBL-G match.

In No. 4 singles Sienna Antamarino won for MVC.

MVC will be at Christopher on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Setting it straight >> Santa Cruz defeated Scotts Valley, 5-2, on Tuesday. The score was incorrect in Local Roundup on B6 Wednesday.

Girls water polo

Salinas 10, Harbor 3 >> Samantha Reich scored four goals for Salinas in a MBL-P match at SLV.

Caitlin White had six steals and Sabory Flynn scored three goals for Salinas (8-3, 7-0).

Alison Odell had 17 saves in goal for the Cowboys.

On Tuesday, Salinas will face Monterey at Hartnell College at 4 p.m., while Harbor will be at Santa Catalina School at 7:30 p.m.

Boys water polo

Santa Cruz 5, At Salinas 4 >> Jack Radovan recorded four steals and one goal as the Cardinals edged Salinas in MBL-G action at Hartnell College.

Logan Jackson added three goals in the win. Keeper Lee Hildinger made 14 saves for Santa Cruz (8-5, 6-3), which hosts Palma on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

At SLV 16, Harbor 3 >> Aiden Leroux scored seven goals to help the Cougars win their MBL-P match.

Xander Krikke added three goals and Max Noble had two.

Defender Brodi Williams helped shut down Harbor’s leading attacker as Cougars goalie Luke Moore finished with five saves.

SLV (6-3) plays Monterey at Carmel on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

At Carmel 7, Aptos 5 >> Goalkeeper Eric Tallman had 10 saves for Aptos in a MBL-G match.

Ben Tallman and Jakob Langholz both scored two goals and Jordan Tallman scored one for Aptos (5-7, 3-5).

Aptos will be at Soquel on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Men’s golf

McElyea in contention to advance >> Santa Cruz’s Cory McElyea is near the cut line through three rounds in the first stage of Web.com Tour Q-School at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.

The Harbor High alum shot 2-under 70 and has a 3-under 213 total entering Friday’s final round. He’s tied for 27th. The top 25 advance to the next stage.

Los Gatos’ Joseph Bramlett leads at 14-under 202.

Salinas’ Matthew Pinizzotto shot 6-under 66 for a 211 total and is tied for 18th.

Monterey’s Robby Salomon is tied for 74th at 231.

Girls golf

Scotts Valley 155, SLV 160 >> Taylor Stevenson shot 32 for medalist honors to lead the Falcons to the SCCAL win over the first six holes at Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club.

Sage Welch (40), Carolyn Burnett (40) and Natalie Mitchell (46) also scored for the Falcons.

Sierra Mirande (36), Amanda Rinnert (40), Ava Badger (40) and Jillian Francis scored for SLV (1-1).

Santa Cruz 145, Harbor 149 >> Medalist Roselyn Marc shot a 6-over-par 29 for Harbor in the teams’ SCCAL match over six holes at Delaveaga Golf Course.

Kayla Karst led Santa Cruz with a 7-over-par 30 and Sigi Allen shot 33 for the Cardinals.

Harbor (0-2) faces Scotts Valley at DeLaveaga on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Santa Cruz (1-1) faces SLV at DeLaveaga on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Boys cross country

Santa Cruz 25, Soquel 32; Santa Cruz 17, Harbor 44; SLV 15, Harbor 50 >> SLV’s Chris Anderson finished the 2.08-mile course at UC Santa Cruz in 11:27 for the win.

Santa Cruz’s Hugh Chomentowski (11:38) was second and Soquel’s Matthew Founds (11:55) was third. Harbor’s Jonathon Solo was 14th in 13:13.

The Stanford Invitational is all day Saturday.

St. Francis 15, Mount Madonna 49; Scotts Valley 15, Mount Madonna 50; Aptos 20, St. Francis 38; Aptos 20, Scotts Valley 35; Scotts Valley 33, St. Francis 39 >> St. Francis’ EJ Kelly took the individual win, but Aptos turned up as the winning squad in a four-team SCCAL meet at Pinto Lake Park in Watsonville.

Kelly beat out three chasing Aptos runners: Koya Oki, Luis Garcia and Mathew Quinn. Scotts Valley’s Travis Lan took fifth, while Isaac Harris led Mount Madonna by placing 31st.

Girls cross country

Santa Cruz 23, Soquel 32; Santa Cruz 15, Harbor, inc.; SLV 15, Harbor, inc. >> Santa Cruz’s Mari Friedman finished the 2.08-mile course at UC Santa Cruz in 12:46 for the win.

Santa Cruz’s Maya Desmond (13:35) took second and Soquel’s Leila Williams (13:44) was third.

SLV’s Sophie Zachau (15:13) was ninth and Harbor’s Anna Andreasen (16:53) was 24th.

Scotts Valley 17, St. Francis 45; Aptos 15, St. Francis 50; Aptos 16, Scotts Valley 47 >> Marea Zlatunich won a four-team SCCAL meet at Pinto Lake Park to drive Aptos to wins over Scotts Valley, St. Francis and an incomplete Mount Madonna squad.

Aptos posted seven of the top eight finishers. Scotts Valley’s Kelly McEntee took fifth. Olivia Burre placed 13th to pace St. Francis. Cat Ching, one of two Hawks runners, placed 37th.
