Final Five are reunited at Olympics awards ceremony as they are named team of the year… but where's Gabby Douglas?

  • 'Final Five' gymnasts picked up the top prize during the Team USA Awards
  • The young athletes won a total of nine golds during the Rio Olympics 2016
  • Other stars of Team USA were also celebrated including Michael Phelps
  • Gymnast Gabby Douglas, part of the 'Final Five', didn't attend the evening

They dazzled in Rio and are now officially the USA's team of the Olympics.

The 'Final Five' gymnasts, led by Simone Biles, picked up the top prize during the Team USA Awards.

During the Olympics, the team - Biles, Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez and Gabby Douglas - won a total of nine golds during this summer's competition.

They are called the Final Five because the number of gymnasts will drop to four for the team competition in Tokyo 2020.

Although four of the five attended, Gabby Douglas, who came to fame in London 2012, was mysteriously missing from the evening's schedule.

The Team USA Awards were determined by thousands of fans voting online for their favorites in the wake of the successful Olympics where the US easily topped the medal tables.

In Rio it was the first time the women's gymnastics team had defended their Olympic title - scoring 184.897 points – more than eight points ahead of second-place Russia.

The US achieved the highest score on each of the four apparatuses in a comfortable victory.

Last night several awards were given out to successful Rio athletes.

Decorated swimmer Michael Phelps, who won five golds in Brazil, was recognised as Male Athlete of the Olympic Games in his absence.

Unsurprisingly Ryan Lochte, who won a single gold, wasn't given an award after he and teammates fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio.

Female Athlete of the Games was another swimmer, Katie Ledecky, 19, who won four golds.

Swimmer Brad Snyder, who won four golds in Rio, was Male Athlete of the Paralympic Games.

Team of Paralympic Games was the women’s sitting volleyball side.

The awards were given out last night at Georgetown University’s McDonough Arena in Washington, D.C.

Since the gymnasts' success they have met and posed for photos with multiple A-list stars, including Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards.
