Yakuza fans don't have much longer to wait for the next installment of their beloved franchise. Sega's John Hardin has confirmed via the PlayStation.Blog that the crime drama prequel to the franchise will be arriving in January, complete with a launch day edition known as "The Business" edition. If you're not interested in all the goodies from the launch day edition and just want to play the game as soon as it unlocks, Yakuza 0 now has digital pre-orders available on the PlayStation Store.
If you're interested in The Business edition, it will come with a stainless steel business card holder with a front and back design. One side will have Kiryu's dragon tattoo, while the other will have Majima's Hanya tattoo. You'll even get double sided, bilingual business cards for both Kiryu and Majima along with a special hostess card. Digital purchases of Yakuza 0 will also come with a static theme for your PlayStation 4.
In Yakuza 0, we get to see the first job Kazuma Kiryu goes on after joining the Dojima Family. He's off to collect a 300,000 yen debt and deliver it to the loan shark who lent the money in the first place. It's not anything too out of the ordinary for a new member of the yakuza, but things get rough very fast when the guy's body is discovered. Kiryu quickly finds himself in a mess that he'll have to clean up quickly in order for the yakuza to not be implicated and to save his own skin.
Known as Yakuza Kiwami in Japan, the game started 2016 off topping the Media Create charts with both its PlayStation 3 and 4 releases. Unfortunately for western yakuza members, the Dojima family won't allow Yakuza 0's PS3 release to be made available outside Japan. The "console exclusive" on the game's box art may also get some people hoping for a PC release, but Sega's already dashed those hopes. Yakuza 0 will be available for PlayStation 4 systems in North America on January 24, 2017.
