Selangor voters have been warned they may see Umno leader Noh Omar as the next menteri besar if the Election Commission's (EC) pushes through.

DAP Youth publicity secretary Muhammad Shakir Ameer said the EC's plans and Noh Omar's boast several weeks ago that Umno can retake Selangor is a clear indication that this is a planned attempt to wrest back the state.

He said since becoming urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister, the Umno Selangor leader had made several "illogical" suggestions that show he is "heartless".

"If BN has enough seats to take Selangor, it is very clear Noh Omar will be chosen to be the state's menteri besar.

"Do the rakyat of Selangor want a leader who does not prioritise the education of our children?" said Muhammad Shakir Ameer in a statement.

He was referring to the Umno minister's suggestion that Parents and Teachers Associations (PTA) raise their own funds for their schools.

Muhammad Shakir, who is Shah Alam city councillor, also pointed to the minister's suggestion that housing developers give loans to buyers, which he said would only profit the developer but burden the buyers.

"Do the rakyat of Selangor want a leader who gives suggestions that are illogical, such as the loan system that will burden the people and the future generations?

"Surely not. Selangor people do not need someone who is heartless," he said.

He therefore urged voters to actively reject the EC's redelineation proposal.

"We from DAP will also be making objections through the local government and state government in cooperation with other parties in the Selangor government.

"Together let us reject the cruel BN government," said Muhammad Shakir.

S'gor to take legal action

Meanwhile Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said the state will take the EC to court since the commission has failed to abide by the 48 hour notice the state has given it to set up a meeting to provide an explanation over the state's redelineation.

Azmin on Wednesday said he was sending EC the letter that day itself.

"The notice (to the EC) requested a discussion with the state government or at least a written explanation detailing the basis and mechanism used in the redelineation," Sinar Harian reported Azmin saying today.

"If they fail, we will take action and start legal proceedings using all avenues available, he was reported saying at a press conference in Puchong yesterday.

He reiterated lawyers have indicated the EC has contravened the federal construction in its redelineation proposal.

The MB in a statement today confirmed legal action will proceed as the EC's reply to the state has been unsatisfactory.
