It's almost time to explore and conquer the world all over again in Sid Meier's Civilization VI. As October 21 draws closer, it's time to check your rig to make sure you're able to handle the demanding task of building a civilization that stands the test of time. Firaxis is here to help, updating the game's page on Steam today with the minimum and recommended hardware specs to be able to run Sid Meier's Civilization VI when it launches.
CPU requirements aren't too stringent, with an Intel Core i3 at 2.5 GHz or an AMD Phenom II at 2.6 GHz listed as the minimum requirements. Likewise, your GPU only needs 1GB of VRAM, preferably a Radeon 5570 or a GTS 450. If you're looking for the recommended hardware, you'll want at least a Haswell Core i5 at 2.5GHz or an AMD FX8350 at 4.0 GHz. Your graphics card should also have at least 2GB of VRAM, preferably a Radeon 7970 or a GTX 770. Both the minimum and recommended specs list DirectX 11 with no mention of DX9, though we do know Civilization VI will support DirectX 12.
The minimum hardware requirements are fairly reasonable, so you don't need the latest and greatest hardware to help Theodore Roosevelt lead the United States to victory. Sid Meier's Civilization VI will celebrate 25 years of the Civilization franchise when it releases on PC October 21.
