Kalani Fouts had four goals and three steals to lead the Soquel High boys water polo team past rival Carmel 11-6 in Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division action on Thursday.

The two programs have split the MBL-G crown twice in the last three seasons.

Jafet Hernandez and Cooper White each scored two goals for the Knights, while Hernandez and Charlie Bailey each provided three assists.

Parker Fisher had three goals and two steals for Carmel (10-4, 5-2), which will play at Santa Cruz Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Keeper Wyatt Felldin had nine saves and three steals for Soquel (12-5, 7-0), which will host Salinas on Tuesday at Cabrillo College at 6 p.m.

Santa Cruz 8, At Aptos 4 >> Logan Jackson had three goals, one assist and one steal to lead the Cardinals in MBL-G play.

Thomas Trenholme had three goals and drew three exclusions. Keeper Lee Hildinger had 15 saves and a steal for the Cardinals (7-4, 5-2), who will visit Valley Christian on Saturday at noon.

Jakob Langholz led Aptos with three goals. Eric Tallman had 14 saves for the Mariners (5-6, 3-4), who will visit Carmel on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Girls water polo

Soquel 16, Carmel 1 >> Shea Salvino led Soquel with four goals in an MBL-G match at Cabrillo College.

Malea Jordan scored three goals and Ellie Graessle and Annie Nigh scored two for Soquel (12-2, 6-0), which will visit San Lorenzo Valley on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Aptos 8, at Santa Cruz 3 >> Kiegan Lee had five goals, four steals and one assist as Aptos took sole possession of second place in the MBL-G.

Desere Guzman had 13 saves in net. Kamele Nugent had one goal and two assists and played excellent defense for the Mariners (6-3, 4-2), who will face Turlock on Friday.

Santa Cruz (4-5, 2-4) will be at the Monterey Bay Classic at Watsonville High on Friday.

Girls volleyball

At Salinas 3, Monte Vista Christian 2 >> Allie Tillery had nine kills and 10 blocks in MVC’s 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 14-16 loss to host Salinas in MBL-G action. It was MVC’s first loss in league and just its third this season.

Shelby Anderson had 11 kills and three blocks, while Sjea Anderson added 18 kills, three blocks and 27 digs for the Mustangs (16-3, 2-1), who host Alvarez on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Aptos 3, at San Lorenzo Valley 0 >> Maddi Smith led Aptos with nine kills as the Mariners won in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16, 25-16, in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play.

Liz McGrath had four kills, four digs, four aces and 11 assists for Aptos (10-8, 6-0), which will visit Mount Madonna on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Dana Foley and Lauren Picone both had eight digs for Aptos, which had 16 total aces as a team.

SLV (1-9, 0-6) will visit St. Francis on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Harbor 3, at Scotts Valley 1 >> Jordyn Skucius had 14 kills and six digs and Dani Koch added 12 kills for the Pirates, who won their SCCAL match, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Sam Boyle and Serena Garcia each had 11 kills for the Falcons (8-4, 3-2), who will participate in the Mount Madonna Invitational on Saturday. Jianna Andrews added 12 digs for Scotts Valley.

Pacific Collegiate School 3, at Trinity Christian 0 >> Outside hitter Chloe Cornejo and right side Eliana Abrams led the Pumas in hitting in a 25-16, 25-17, 28-26 win in Mission Trail Athletic League Coastal Division play.

The Pumas (3-1, 2-1) host York on Monday and Greenfield on Tuesday. Both matches begin at 5 p.m.

Santa Cruz 3, at St. Francis 0 >> Rashonda Rhodes had six kills and three blocks in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win.

Libero Marina Crawford added seven aces and one assist for the Cardinals (3-12, 3-3), who host Harbor on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Girls tennis

At Aptos 6, Santa Cruz 1 >> Mia Totah, Lyndsey Mott, Madison Glynn and Molly Mott all won their singles matches for Aptos in SCCAL play.

Santa Cruz will be at Scotts Valley on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Aptos will host Scotts Valley on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

At MVC 5, San Benito 2 >> Cloria Yao, Sierra Myer and Della Zhou all won singles matches for MVC in an MBL-G match.

MVC will host Alisal on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

St. Francis 7, SLV 0 >> The Sharks earned seven wins in straight sets to defeat San Lorenzo Valley in SCCAL play at Imperial Courts.

St. Francis (5-4, 3-2) will host Soquel on Tuesday at Imperial Courts at 3:30 p.m.

At Watsonville 5, Pajaro Valley 2 >> Sam Reynoso won her No. 1 singles match in an MBL-P meting against P.V.

Watsonville swept all singles matches as the Wildcatz won their league opener.

Watsonville will be at North Salinas and Pajaro Valley will be at Monterey on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Girls golf

Santa Cruz 168, Scotts Valley 172 >> Taylor Stevenson shot 34 across six holes on the front nine at DeLaveaga Golf Course, but the Falcons lost to the Cardinals, who played without defending league champion Kayla Karst.

Helen Johnson shot 41 to lead the Cardinals (1-1), who host Aptos on Tuesday at DeLaveaga at 3:30 p.m.

Carolyn Burnett shot 43 for the Falcons (0-1), who play SLV at Boulder Creek on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Notre Dame 268, MVC 295 >> Athena Enosara and Alyssa Amaral each earned medalist honors with a 46 to lead Notre Dame-Salinas at Twin Creeks Golf Course.

Alisha Fei led MVC with a 52. Estelle Petrocelli (59), Sophia Cater (60), Marissa Hertzog (62) and Amy Wu (62) rounded out the Mustangs.

Torres gets 17th hold >> Watsonville native Carlos Torres threw 1 1/3 hitless, scoreless innings for his 17th hold as Milwaukee beat visiting Pittsburgh 3-1.

The Aptos alum walked one and struck out two while lowering his season earned-run average to 2.87 in his 68th appearance for the Brewers (69-84).
