On February 19, 2011, derby clash between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos at Karaiskaki Stadium became notorious not only for the many mistaken decisions of referee Kalopoulos against the Greens, but also for the invasion of Olympiakos' supporters in the field and the incident between Vangelis Marinakis and the 35-year-old French international striker, who was a member of Panathinaikos back then.

That unfortunate incident, which was recorded on TV, was continued, with Djibril Cisse expressing his desire to leave Greece at the end of 2010-11 season and the president of Olympiakos stating that... "our club gave a lesson of manners today and Mr. Cisse can leave Greece if he wants, even if I did not see him suffering here. He can take off his skirt and blouse and leave immediately".

A few days later, the French footballer filled a lawsuit against Vangelis Marinakis (who also did the same), accusing him for being attacked by supporters of Olympiakos at Karaiskaki Stadium that night and for his statement against him right after the end of that controversial clash.

More than five years after that dark night for Greek football, and more specifically on Monday, this case will finally reach the courts after many postponement and the president of Olympiakos will have to apologize for what happened at that unforgettable match in February 2011.

Dinner at Monaco and Djibril Cisse's response to rumours

In August 2015 there was a rumour that the two sides, Vangelis Marinakis and Djibril Cisse, had reached an agreement in order to terminate the legal part of that case after a meeting between the two men at a luxury restaurant of Monaco. Still, the former international striker had given an interview to SDNA, angrily responding to those rumours.

"They said that I had dinner with Mr. Marinakis at Monaco, but this is not true. They called me, via my friend Pierre Issa, and wanted to speak with me. I have nothing to hide about that case, even friends of Panathinaikos accused me, because they believed those false rumours. If it was true, I would have admitted it because I am a man, but it is not.

When I spoke with Mr. Issa, he told me that the officials of Olympiakos wanted to speak with me in order to solve this problem once and for all. Later, some people wrote that they invited me for dinner at Monaco, but this is bullshit. The president of Olympiakos was already there, I saw him, went to his table just to say hello and then left immediately.

What kind of compromise? We are still in a legal fight, if I had done something like that I would have dropped the charges. The case was going to be examined on June 7, but they asked for a postponement because of another legal case. It is still open and there is no compromise at all, they said many things about me which are not true and I don't like that".
