The time has come to fight the Burning Legion once more. As the Tomb of Sargeras fuels the Legion's newest portal into our world, the Horde and Alliance are calling upon every hero of Azeroth, both old and new, to stand up and fight once more. Whether you're a powerful mage, a mighty warrior, or even one of the recently awoken Illidari, your might is needed to save the World of Warcraft. The Council of Six has moved Dalaran yet again to escape the Legion's onslaught, heralding the official launch of Legion.
Heroes of Azeroth in North America, Latin America, and New Zealand can now wait their turn in the login queue to storm the Broken Isles and recover the first of their artifact weapons. Empowering and upgrading the skills provided by your artifact weapon will take the place of replacing your weapon every time something shinier comes along. Each artifact starts with a base item level of 750, which can be improved by slotting in various relics you find along your journey. Relics work much like gem slots, except instead of providing stats they increase your artifact's item level and grant one rank to a given trait. Be prepared with your gear, as Legion gear starts off at item level 685. Demon Hunters have been available for anyone that pre-purchased the expansion, but check out our Vengeance and Havoc previews from beta if you're still trying to decide which spec to play.
World of Warcraft: Legion is live now, complete with normal and heroic difficulty dungeons for the new instances on the Broken Isles. Mythic dungeons will unlock at 8 AM Pacific Time, giving those of us sticking around for the midnight launch a chance to push their way to level 110 if they don't have to sit in a login queue. The Emerald Nightmare raid instance and mythic keystone dungeons won't be available until September 20, giving players just under a month to reach max level and gear up. September 27th sees the first LFR wing for Emerald Nightmare open, as well as unlocking the raid's mythic difficulty for guilds pushing for server and world firsts. September 20 also marks the beginning of Legion's first PvP season, though you can start earning honor points now. The Legion has returned. Are you prepared?
