LIST: California's Top 100 Scenic Restaurants

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Whether dining in Northern California, or along the Southern California coastline, there is a reason that the state of California received nearly a quarter of the country's listings in Open Table's Top 100 Scenic Restaurants for 2016.

On the Newport Coast, Crystal Cove's Beachcomber Cafe is known for its steps to the sand access, as well as the surf culture historic district, views of the gorgeous southern California coastline and, of course, martinis at sunset. All add up to making this a perfect setting for a special occasion dinner in the open air.

Twenty-four of the 100 restaurants cited in the report make their home in California, with sweeping views of the mighty Pacific Ocean at sunset making the perfect backdrop for alfresco dining.

At the Marine Room in San Diego, or Duke's Malibu, diners have the opportunity to see the ocean up close, with pounding waves or gentle calm seas creating ambiance for the table.

Others, situated over the gorgeous Lake Tahoe, or sweeping vistas of the glittering California cityscapes, make ideal candidates for spots to get engaged or celebrate your anniversary.

Results for the 100 most scenic restaurants in America for 2016 were collected after an analysis of more than 5 million online reviews of more than 20,000 restaurants all submitted by verified Open Table diners, according to the popular website.
