The mystery will be introduced as early as the first episode of Season 3. And the cast will have a difficult time solving it, according to Nowalk.

Viola Davis recently received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in the Drama series for her role in "How to Get Away with Murder".
In an interview following her historical Emmy victory, the actress answered questions about how her role as Annalise Keating will progress in Season 3.
Davis also confirmed what the show's EP said about the mystery in the upcoming season. She said that mystery will build up, but it will be solved by the end of Season 3.
Gibbins' trouble
An insider reports that the mystery will revolve around how Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) will handle his own distress after witnessing the death of his father before his very eyes.
Enoch told the Television Critics Association during a press tour that a different side of Gibbins should be expected. He added that they should watch out how this new side of his character will affect Keating in the process.
With all the mystery and drama going on, the season also will also unlock the sophomore year of the Keating Five. They will be more involved in courtroom cases and proceedings.

Viewers get to follow the development of Keating's relationship with her female ex-lover, Eve, as she returns this season.
As for the Keating Five, fans will learn how Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King) and Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry) will behave after a short hookup.
Viewers will also be able to watch how the awkwardness between Gibbins and Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza) will unfold in the coming episodes. It can be recalled that the two shared a quick kiss in Season 2.
Meanwhile, the relationship of the fans' favorite gay couple, Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee) and Oliver Hampton (Conrad Ricamora), will reach a new level of complication as Oliver hinders Connor's Stanford application.
