Inkster cards 69 >> Santa Cruz native Juli Inkster recorded a 3-under 69 in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Canadian Pacific Women’s Open in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The Harbor High and San Jose State alumna, who eagled the par-4 ninth hole during the first round, compiled five birdies and two bogeys during the second round.
Inkster is tied for 20th place.
McElyea takes 17th >> Santa Cruz’s Cory McElyea tied for 17th place in the Golden State Tour’s Web Q-School Pre-Qualifying Prep Event at PGA West’s Norman Course in La Quinta.
The Harbor High and University of San Francisco standout closed with 4-over 76 for a 218 total.
Kyle Maze of Phoenix and AJ McInerney of Henderson, Nev., led with 6-under 210 totals.

Soquel 12, Carmel 7 >> Kalani Fouts scored a team-high six goals to go along with two assists as the Knights defeated Carmel in their Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division season opener at Cabrillo College on Thursday.
Henry Bristrin contributed four goals, while Jafet Hernandez assisted on three goals and scored two. Goalie Wyatt Felldin had nine saves for the Knights (1-0, 1-0), who play Salinas on Tuesday at Hartnell College at 6 p.m.
