Oregon Loses 3-1 vs Second Ranked Texas To Open Vert Challenge

Last season the Nebraska Cornhuskers won the National Championship over Texas and the Longhorns will get a rematch on Saturday afternoon in Eugene. The Oregon Ducks bring some experience from last season in Lindsay Vander Weide along with Senior Leadership in Taylor Agost in Kacy Nady. Oregon Ducks Head Coach Jim Moore has made very clear this week that his intent is to ‘pay back’ Texas for 2012 and a win on Friday night could end up being a Program Defining win. When you host the best and can be the best it is usually a good match.

In the first game 10th ranked Florida will take to the Matthew Knight Arena floor to face Nebraska. The Cornhuskers were 30-3 last season and enter the game as the top ranked team in the Country. Kadier Rolfzen and Amber Rolfzen return to lead the Cornhuskers attack. Nebraska has the talent to do something that no team has done, win back to back National Championships in Women’s Volleyball.

Florida begins the season in the Top Ten, but fans won’t forget a costly call in the Elite 8 last season that could have put the Gators higher. This season, Instant Replay makes its debut and Oregon is one of two Pac-12 schools that will have the system in place. Rhamat Alhassan will set the Defense for Florida. She holds the NCAA Mark for Defensive Efficiency entering her Junior season. The Gators also have talent at the outside position with Outside Hitter Carli Snyder according to FloridaGators.com.

Florida faces Nebraska to open the 2016 season in the first game Friday at 4pm Pacific Time. The Oregon Ducks will follow with Texas at 7pm Pacific Time on the Pac-12 Networks. Locally in Eugene Oregon games will also be broadcast on 88.1 KWVA.
