Like all the best memes, 100-layers videos gifted us with something we didn't even know we needed—a series of un-look-away-able videos of people slathering their faces with layer upon layer of different types of makeup: foundation, lipstick, lashes. They were an enthralling bit of voyeurism, but like all things Internet, the shine eventually wore off, and now, just a few weeks later, the idea of watching a new 100-layers video seems so passé. Trust us, you'll want to make an exception for this one.
It comes courtesy of YouTuber ItsYeBoi, who decided to film what we can only describe as the worst idea ever, with his own leg as the guinea pig. Enlisting his sister to help with the application, he smeared over 100 layers (he decided to go ahead and finish up the third jar of wax instead of stopping at an even number) of body wax onto his leg. And then he pulled it off. If you're thinking that sounds like the premise of a horror movie, then you've probably been to a waxing salon before.
The wax featured in the video appears to be a sugar formula, which the duo initially elected not to heat up, though they switched over to warming the wax at layer 30 for easier application, turning all of the layers into a melty mess. Still, after switching back to the cooled formula, the two managed to get all of the layers into his leg. The result was something like a giant mound of butterscotch candy, i.e., not something you'd ever want on your skin. Then came the removal process, which...well, there's a reason ItsYeBoi included the words "extreme pain" in the title of the video.
Honestly, we're a little bit disappointed that there was no after shot of the leg—despite the extreme wax overload, it actually looked like the process was successful in removing the hair. Somehow we don't think we'll be asking our technician to add an extra layer or two to our next waxing session, though. One suits us just fine.
