Niles, OH (WKBN) – The Scrappers are on the road this weekend, but Eastwood Field was still filled with fun Saturday. For the first time ever, the Scrappers hosted a Fantasy Camp with some former Indians greats. A dream come true for players of all ages.

50 fans-turned players got up close and personal with a couple former Indians. A great list of names: Joe Charboneau, Kevin Rhomberg, Jensen Lewis, and Jason Stanford…all in town to teach the game they love.

“This gives the fans a chance to participate in baseball and kind of see what it was like to be a pro baseball player,” said Charboneau. “Get the experience, reconnect with the game and also realize how hard the game is.”

“It’s amazingly fun when someone remembers me, because it’s been awhile ago since I played…didn’t play that much,” said Rhomberg. “But at the end of the day, just being able to get out with these guys,  it makes us feel like we’re back on the field.”

The former Indians also talked about traits of this year’s ball club.

“I think resiliency to be honest with you and case in point just kind of this week,” said Lewis.  “The walk-off wins, and the late comebacks, and really the dominant starting pitching.”

“They’re an exciting team,” said Charboneau. “I mean they’ve got pitching and timely hitting and I think they’re big time over-achievers, who like each other and play well together and have a great clubhouse.”
