YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – iHeart Media hosted a blood drive on Friday for the Red Cross with the expectation of getting around 150 people to donate.

The Red Cross said they are in a blood emergency right now because they are running low on blood.

The summer months are always the toughest for blood supplies because people are not donating as much.

“A lot of people are on vacation and the schools are out so the kids go on vacation a lot, and people do not come in as often as they do in the springer, winter, fall and we always get a little low,” said Mary Ann Bee from the American Red Cross.

The people who reserved a spot early enough to donate went home with a free ticket to Cedar Point.
