Mashpee police identify suspect arrested after armed standoff
Police have identified the man who barricaded himself inside a Mashpee business with a rifle for several hours on Wednesday.Patrick Perkins, 41, was formally arrested after undergoing a mental health evaluation at Falmouth Hospital. He is being held for several felony charges.Officers were called to Audio Visual Solutions Inc. on Falmouth Road around noon Wednesday for a well-being check.A short time later, police said, Perkins barricaded himself inside the building and threatened to shoot anyone who approached him.Crisis negotiators and tactical teams were called to the scene, and witnesses in the area told NewsCenter 5 that buildings nearby were evacuated. Crews worked for hours to coax Perkins from the buildingAt one point, police said he fired at least one round. Officers said they were unsure if it was aimed at someone or if he was just agitated. Hours after the incident began, just before 7:30 p.m., Perkins agreed to walk out of the building with his hands in the air and the standoff ended peacefully.Perkins will be arraigned Thursday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, intoxicated licensee carrying a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime. Get the WCVB News App

Perkins will be arraigned Thursday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, intoxicated licensee carrying a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime.
