AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley is hoping to sign defender Sean Kelly and add a striker to his squad.

Kelly, 22, was released by St Mirren at the end of last season and has impressed during a recent trial with the Dons.

"We are still trying to get Sean's deal over the line because we think he will be a really good addition for us," Ardley told the club website. external-link

"Then we are looking for that centre-forward. We're trying to get it right."

Ardley is preparing his squad for League One following their promotion via last season's play-offs.

Their victory over Plymouth at Wembley in May secured their place in the third tier.

"Most of my work for the summer was done pre-Wembley by re-signing Darius Charles, Barry Fuller, George Francomb and Dannie Bulman," Ardley said.

"It gives us players who know what we are about. They know what the manager and staff expect from them."
