After leading the Cavaliers to their first championship in franchise history, head coach Tyronn Lue will reap the benefits.

According to The Vertical, Lue has agreed to a five-year extension worth $35 million, putting him on the same pay scale as new Wizards coach Scott Brooks.

Having been handed the reins to the defending Eastern Conference champions at mid-season after David Blatt was fired, Lue had to learn how to take control of the team on the fly while the collective basketball world second-guessed him. He was in the rare position of being a rookie coach entrusted with a team that was expected to compete for a title.

In addition to being the fourth-youngest coach in NBA history to win a championship, Lue became just the sixth African-American coach to win it all. He's one of only eight black coaches in the NBA.

Lue went 27-14 in the regular season after being named the Cavs head coach on Jan. 22.
