Recovering from injury is a challenge in itself, but the latest word out of New England is that LeGarrette Blount may be released from the team. Mike Reiss from ESPN sees the former Duck as the possible odd man out in a position with potential stars in the making. He suffered the injury in December and did not practice this Spring according to the report.

Blount signed a Free Agent Contract through the 2016 season with New England, so his health should be a top concern. The bigger concern for the Patriots is at Quarterback. Jimmy Garoppalo will have the opportunity to start the season with Tom Brady’s Deflate-gate 4-game Suspension being upheld, but the Running Back situation bears watching.

Aside from Blount, the Patriots have more than a handful of players that are injured and did not practice in the Spring including Julian Edelman, Nate Solder and Danny Amendola according to the report.

New England hosts New Orleans in their first preseason game on Thursday, August 11th.
