The Virtual Console's been relatively quiet lately for Nintendo. When Nintendo announced SNES classics would be making their way to the New 3DS Virtual Console in March, many fans had hoped for more regular updates on the 3DS. There was even a list of rumored future Virtual Console releases that some of us couldn't help get excited about. Today, Nintendo's website updated with a new listing for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Mario's first RPG adventure is coming to the Virtual Console tomorrow, but you'll have to have a Wii U to enjoy this classic.
The appearance of Smithy forces perennial foes Mario and Bowser to work together. Pick your preferred controller method and even enjoy off-TV play using the Wii U GamePad as you work to repair Star Road and save the Mushroom Kingdom with the help of other unlikely allies. Originally released in 1996, Super Mario RPG continues to be one of the most loved RPG titles of all time.
The bad news for Super Mario RPG fans is that you can't drop what you're doing and go download the game right now. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars will be available tomorrow after Nintendo's weekly eShop update. Legend of the Seven Stars will only be available for the Wii U Virtual Console, so New 3DS owners will have to hope Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the SNES section of the Virtual Console.
