Axcient CEO Justin Moore believes there's plenty of room for innovation in the Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) space.
“This isn't a flooded space," he told CMSWire in an interview this week. "There have only been two meaningful innovations in decades and neither dramatically changed IT architectures."
Copy-data management software doesn't address the wasteful and often idle sills of compute and networking, let alone consolidate the various non-production workload softwares that lead to complexity, he said.
Hyper-converged infrastructure reduces the silos of infrastructure by consolidating networking, compute and storage but still requires companies to build more boxes for redundancy and agility, he added.
Consolidated Infrastructure
Axcient claims it cracks those IT codes with a solution today called Fusion, a cloud-converged platform for IT "resilience and agility."
Fusion is designed to consolidate data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery, testing and development, archiving and compliance, data warehousing and analytics into an on-demand platform.

Axcient's Fusion Promise
With Fusion, Axcient officials claim IT teams will benefit from:

Targeted VMware Environments
Fusion is targeted at midsize and enterprise businesses under pressure to deliver higher levels of service with limited budgets and fewer staff, Moore said.
The technology, he said, is deployed as a virtual machine template into the users’ VMware environment. From there, Axcient Fusion identifies the machines on the network and begins replicating those systems to the cloud. Users can run all of their non-production workloads against a single dataset.
Fusion is a new platform built on the eight-year foundation of Axcient’s DRaaS service, Business Recovery Cloud. Gartner, IDC and Forrester has named Axcient a leader in this space.
