BET can talk the talk and walk the walk.

After much anticipation, the 2016 BET Awards followed through with their promise to deliver not one but several heartfelt, thoughtful tributes to Prince.

Dave Chappelle shared a few words about the music legend before The Roots, Erykah Badu and Bila delivered the first musical tribute of the evening.

"We miss him dearly," the comedian shared. "But tonight, the BET Awards will celebrate the rich legacy of this remarkable genius that we are all so proud of."

Later on into the broadcast, Tori Kelly and Stevie Wonder came together for a performance of "Take Me With You."

What really got the crowd on its feet was when Jennifer Hudson stepped on stage where she used her powerful voice to sing "Purple Rain."

With a touch of purple eye makeup, the American Idol alumna and Broadway superstar won over audience members both inside the Microsoft Theater and at home.

As the show entered it's second hour, Maxwell appeared without any introduction to perform several hits including "Nothing Compares to You."

As if the tributes couldn't get any better, Janelle Monáe had her chance to honor one of her favorite performers of all time. Whether recreating his dance moves or dressing perfectly for the occasion, the longtime admirer did her friend proud when performing "I Would Die for You" and other hits.

Last but certainly not least, Sheila E. helped conclude a star-studded show with the final tribute of the night. Featuring a medley of Prince classics, the singer was moved to tears after honoring her close friend.

Prince, who died from an opioid overdose in April, has had plenty of history with the annual awards show.

In addition to receiving the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, he also won several awards including Best Male R&B Artist Award in 2006.

"He would be happy. I think the fans are doing what he would have wanted them to do, which is celebrate his music," Sheila E recently shared with E! News when remembering her close friend. "You don't realize how many lives he's touched and I don't think he really realized it."
