PAS' Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar today urged Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah to take additional leave to rest.

This is after Ahmad Bashah's released from hospital after being warded for several weeks due to intestinal complications.

Mahfuz said it was better for his duties to be undertaken by an acting MB, so he could fully recuperate.

However, the Kedah constitution states that the MB need not appoint someone to act for him if is on leave for less than 28 days.

"Bashah is not a pesembur or noodle seller. He is also not MB of Umno. He is the chief executive of Kedah.

"When he is sick, he will not be able to concentrate. There may be executive council members (to assist him) but he needs to think, plan, lead, oversee etc," he said in a statement.

He added that Bashah should also not rush back to work out of fear that he may lose his post.

"Don't be like Prime Minister Najib (Abdul Razak) and ignore advice to the extent that the entire Kedah ends up in intensive care," he said.

The MB was released from the Penang General Hospital intensive care unit after 18 days, on Thursday.

Ahmad Bashah, who took over from Mukhriz Mahathir following an internal coup in February, fainted during a June 4 meeting in Alor Setar.
