Wanna Work At The Supreme Court? Brush Up On Your Woodworking Skills

Working at the Supreme Court is a dream job, and here's a way to get there without being a gunner.

Woodworking CraftsmanIt takes a lot to maintain the highest court in the land, and I don’t just mean the work the eight Supreme Court justices do to maintain our republic. I mean the actual, historic building at One First Street. That takes hardworking and skilled laborers. And the Supreme Court is currently looking for a woodworker to join their team.

Working at the Supreme Court is a dream job, and here’s a way to get there without being a gunner. And you’d make between $48,378 and $76,498.

The job description indicates there is upkeep of both the utilitarian and fancy touches that make the Court unique:

The Woodworker is responsible for making or repairing high grade wooden items such as cabinetry, furniture and decorative woodwork in offices and throughout the Court building. Plans and lays out work from specifications, blueprints, sketches and oral instructions. Performs other duties as required.

But now for the real question — are you qualified for this job?

High school diploma required. Three years of woodworker/cabinetmaker experience required. Candidates must have basic knowledge of woodworking machinery and maintenance. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (at least 45 lbs.). Experience in dealing with high level government officials and other dignitaries desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and CNC programming and operation beneficial. Employment is subject to the successful completion of a security background check.

I love that they list “[e]xperience in dealing with high level government officials” as a desirable qualification. You don’t want to hire someone that’d be tongue-tied every time RBG walked by.
