The music plays once again for Nashville fans.

With Friday's announcement that CMT was swooping in to rescue the recently canceled ABC series, offering it a new home for season five, the country music drama becomes the latest to join a short, but storied list of shows that managed to beat back the grim reaper and come roaring back to life. "CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming," Brian Philips, president of CMT, said in a statement. "Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving line-up of big music specials, documentaries, and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT."

Whether the network realized the error in their ways and snatched their proven lucrative property back up (Family Guy) or a certain streaming service stepped in to save the day (hi, Netflix), these 17 shows have proven that the zombie craze on TV isn't just limited to the content of the series, but the shows themselves. Some used their new lease on life to keep on kicking from here probably unto eternity (again, Family Guy), while others were put back down quicker than one of The Walking Dead. Either way, they can each make the unique claim that they cheated death.
