That is probably not the current president's first career move after he leaves office in January, but that's a shame, if Obama's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is any indication.
POTUS slow-jammed his own presidential term (complete with double mic drop), dissed Donald Trump, and joined Jimmy Fallon for a round of thank you notes in which he continued to say less than favorable things about current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
After Obama reiterated his support for Hillary Clinton, Fallon asked if he felt the republicans were happy about Trump being their nomination.
"We are," Obama said. "This country works when you have two parties that are serious and trying to solve problems. At the end of the day, what you want is a healthy two party system, and you want the republican nominee to be somebody who could do the job if they win, and you want folks who understand the issues and where you can sit across the table from them and have a principled argument with them and still move the country forward."
Later, while participating in Fallon's popular "Thank You Notes" segment, Obama threw out another little Trump diss.
"Thank you, congress, for spending eight years wishing you could replace me with a Republican," he wrote, as Trump's picture appeared next to him. "Or, to put it another way, how do you like me now?"
Fallon wrote his own joke about Clinton's email scandal, and Obama responded with a hesitant, "I'm not sure this was a good idea."
Obama also commented on the Democratic primaries.
"It was a healthy thing for the Democratic Party to have a contested primary and I thought that Bernie Sanders brought enormous energy and his new ideas and he pushed the party and challenged them," he said. "I thought it made Hillary a better candidate. I think she is whip smart. She is tough and she deeply cares about working people and putting kids through school and making sure we're growing our economy and so my hope is is that over the next couple of weeks we're able to pull things together."
The night, however, was not all about politics. Obama also told the story of his first smart phone, which, for security purposes, was disabled to the point of being a child's play phone, and described the eventual process of moving out of the White House.
"It's actually amazing, because they literally move all your stuff out in one day," Obama told Fallon. "You're living in the White House up until inauguration day, and then inauguration day, you're out of there."
The Obamas are only moving a couple of miles away from the White House, so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, 14, doesn't have to transfer schools.
As for what Obama will do as soon as he's out of office, it's not surprising.
"I'm gonna get some sleep," he said. He also explained that Air Force One will take the family on one last ride to any destination, but he's not sure where yet.
"I think it's fair to say that it will be someplace warm, because it's gonna be January, and then I think Michelle and I will take a break somewhere for a couple weeks, and let the girls manage for themselves," he said. "Hopefully they'll be OK when we get back."
