We're not sure why anyone would forget that to begin with, but just in case there's any question, feel free to reference her live 2016 CMT Music Awards performance as reassurance.
Underwood, who is already a winner tonight after snagging the trophy for Female Video of the Year and Performance of the Year for "Smoke Break," took the stage to perform her single "Church Bells," and she definitely gave a show worth praising.
Beginning with nothing but a microphone, banjo player and her sexy sheer black jumpsuit, Carrie slowly drew the audience in with her sultry vocals. Then, almost in an instant, she fiercely tipped her super-singer cape off and instantly changed the energy of the performance.
Suddenly, a gospel choir appeared behind her, as well as a piano player and electric guitarist. And although they added even more oomph to her amazing appearance, nothing overshadowed Underwood's powerhouse vocals, which only got stronger throughout her performance.
This. Girl. Can. Sing! And for that reason, she was greeted with a standing ovation from the audience.
Shortly afterwards, Underwood was honored with the award for Performance of the Year (and it was clear why).
She told the crowd, "Since is the Performance Award, I want to thank you guys for coming out and supporting country music on tour. We've spent the first part of the year on the road and it's just been so wonderful to see so many people come out, and I know I speak for everybody out there, all of us artists who say you guys are the reason that we get to do what we get to do. Thank you so much for coming out and supporting us in concert. God bless you guys."
