Organizers of the state high school track and field championships will consider making schedule changes after temperatures of more than 100 degrees have been predicted for this weekend in Clovis, the site of the meet.

The California Interscholastic Federation issued a statement Tuesday that said it is “working with meet management and the Clovis Unified School District on modifying the event/stadium entry schedule on both days.” A decision is expected by 5 p.m. Wednesday and will be posted on the CIF website.

The National Weather Service predicts highs of 105 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday. Ten Santa Cruz County athletes have qualified to compete at the 98th annual CIF Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High.

Currently, Friday’s preliminary schedule begins with field events at 3 p.m. and track events at 5 p.m. On Saturday, field events begin at 4:30 p.m. and track events at 6 p.m.
