David Shaw reiterates desire to remain at Stanford

It's entirely possible that David Shaw will one day be lured away from Stanford to coach in the NFL. If there's anything you learn about college football over the years -- heck anything about anything -- it's that it is best to never say never.

But it's also fair to say that Shaw has never been ambiguous about his present desire to remain at Stanford. He hasn't used the sort of phrases that leave obvious wiggle room when asked about other jobs.

He played for Stanford. He's got a great thing going at Stanford. He's got three children he'd probably like to go to Stanford.

You might not say "never" but you also could feel fairly safe that he's fairly close to "not anytime soon."

Shaw made this again clear in a recent interview. He told this to Chat Sports, per Rule of Tree, Stanford's SB Nation site.

"I can say without hesitation and 100 percent honesty since I've taken this job, I have not interviewed for another job from anybody else, have not talked to anybody about any jobs - and I don't plan to."

While some might interject that a Shaw agent or representative could have had a discussion or two, leaving Shaw some deniability, this is a pretty clear refutation of a past or present wandering eye. The topic of his future ambitions has come up in several interviews I've had with him, and he's always been as adamant as possible that he plans to stay at Stanford for the long term.

Of course, maybe Shaw just gets tired of the question.
