Display Booths of PAM16
Continuing from the previous post, today let’s have a closer look at them booths and displays during Penang Anime Matsuri 2016 Magical Summer, without the massive crowd in between. XDc
Gundam seem to have taken a centre stage this year, with a fully poseable 1/12 RX-78 Gundam and a statue of Build Burning Gundam displayed at either end of the centre stairs of the main hall.
There was a sales area as well.
Most of the displaying Gunpla were Mobile Suits from the Gundam series of the past seasons, including Iron Blooded Orphans and Build Fighters Try.
There were other plamo on sale as well, such as Star Wars, One Piece and Evangelion, for starters…
Canon, the staple sponsor of SOZO’s events, have a booth here in PAM16 as well.
They offered photo shoots and printing within their erected background room free of charge. Of course there were dozens of instant prints of photos taken during the course of the two days on the panels of the booth.
The other side of the area is a gallery or sort, most likely contest winning shots held just before the event itself.
Golden Screen Cinema, the local cinematic franchise, made their presence known in PAM16 with several large posters of upcoming anime movies, including Detective Conan, One Pice and Crayon Shin-chan.
A narrow booth with a single TV displaying trailers of the said movies was within the same area as well.
There was a particular booth offering a glimpse at some One Piece stuff, along with a couple of PS4 experience zones where you can try out the game (One Piece: Burning Blood) they were promoting.
AFA Shop, the event’s official sales booth, contained many goods from Aldnoah Zero, Kancolle and Hatsune Miku, as well as merchandise of various cosplayer guests of the event.
Only Angie, Siutao and Ying Tze’s stuff were sold here, while the rest of the guests’ merchandise were sold at Coscom’s booth just across the main entrance, within the enclosed tent.
The 2nd floor concourse were full of doujin stuff of various mediums, from artworks to keychains to T-Shirts to sumaho covers to handicrafts…
Amongst the many doujin booths is this particular booth selling hand-made cuties. The booth master is actually a friend of mine, of which he let me and Tama-chan some resting space from time to time during the course of the event days.
Aside from the plushies, looks like they also started to sell custom-made doll outfits. =w=
Speaking of dolls, the said booth master once again allocated a small space for visiting doll owners, allowing us to display our proud musume while we went around the event halls. =w=
And of course Tama-chan was amongst the present.
Across the main entrance was the enclosed tent as mentioned in my last post. Many of the merchandise sold here were more commercialised and are available in large quantities when compared to the doujin area in the main hall.
Unfortunately, upon close inspection I’d detected some boot legs and 2nd hand stuff amongst the sales… orz
Moving on to the next (Upcoming) post, we’ll turn our attention within the Auditorium of Dewan Sri Pinang, as well as the guests that graced the stage!
