Frank Morris (Bruce Willis) is a retired CIA Special-Ops agent living the simple life. He has been smitten by the voice on the other end of the telephone working at the Social Security service in Kansas. He throws his check away every month just so that he can call her and request another, and to speak with her. All of a sudden, a killer squad shows up at his home one night and tries to kill him. He don't know why, but with the ease of swatting a fly, he kills all of them. This guy is bad. . . I mean he makes James Bond look like left-over vegetables from last week. Frank takes off to Kansas to find his girlfriend. He is sure that they will be after her also just because he has spoken to her so many times. It seems that Frank was a "Fixer", one of those guys that did the kind of stuff that governments did to each other, but outwardly denied. Frank breaks into CIA headquarters records to try to get a lead on why they came after him, and tracks everything back to an incident in Guatemala from years before. It seems that they saw something that the CIA would rather that nobody be left around to remember. Frank finds his old co-harts, Marvin (John Malkovich) who was with him in Guatemala, Joe (Morgan Freeman), and Victoria (Helen Mirren), and an old ex-advisary Dimitri, from the KGB. They are all ex-assassins and "troubleshooters", all retired - "put out to pasture", but all still longing for the old days of usefullness. . . They put the "Band back together again" and fight off the bad guys. This is a really funny movie with a laugh a minute. If you watch this film, you'll enjoy it and watch it a second time!Read full review
A really funny action movie that doesn't disappoint. All the actors seem to be having a lot of fun and enjoying themselves. Worth the price.

This movie is action-packed, entertaining, and full of comedy. Bruce Willis and Mary Louise Parker make a great team in this film. I purchased Red 2 as well and it's just as engaging as this first edition.

RED is a silly but very fun movie. It is the sort of movie that would not work, however, if we didn't already have pretty strong impressions and feelings about its stars. If we didn't already think of Helen Mirren as the classy actress who won an Oscar for THE QUEEN...we wouldn't laugh simply at the sight of her wielding a machine gun. If we didn't mostly think of Morgan Freeman for playing God or the President or the silky-toned narrator of MARCH OF THE PENGUINS...we wouldn't chuckle at his antics. Quite frankly, if you enjoyed the trailers for RED, you'll enjoy the movie. They give you an almost complete sense of the tone of this movie. Best of all is the hilarious John Malkovich. He steals every scene he's in with amazing ease. As the craziest of the REDs, he gets to let his tendencies to overact mightily just run wild...and it all works. His facial expressions alone had the audience in stitches. RED is not a classic movie by any means. But I must say, the 110 minutes I spent watching this movie was a complete, guilty-pleasure blast.Read full review
