The San Francisco 49ers will have a revamped Defensive Line in 2016, starting with first round NFL Draft pick DeForest Buckner. Last season Chip Kelly selected Arik Armstead in the first round and on Monday, Alex Balducci completed the trifecta and signed a Free Agent Contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

The move reunites the entire 3-4 Defense that the Oregon Ducks Started during the 2013 and 2014 season that helped led the way, along with Quarterback Marcus Mariota to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

All three players can fit into multiple positions on the Defensive line with Balducci also having time at Nose Guard. It could be interesting to watch how the 49ers Defense aligns as the season progresses in 2016.

In all, the San Francisco 49ers signed 10 Free Agents, but will olnly have room for 8, so two are tryout candidates most likely according to Niners Nation.

Alex Balducci has a few strengths but more weaknessess when you look at his NFL.com Draft Profile. They go as far as to say he has the size for the position, but his athleticicism is marginal. Of course, at Oregon he finished the 2015-16 season with 40 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Having the right people around him could be a difference maker in the NFL, especially if he is given the chance to succeed.
