When will these struggling programs win an NCAA tournament game?

Neither Nebraska nor Northwestern has won an NCAA tournament game in program history. USA TODAY Sports, Icon Sportswire

Last week, I named all 150 Division I teams that have won at least one NCAA tournament game since 2000, everyone from Duke and Kansas (42 wins apiece) to Yale (one). Conspicuously missing from that roll of honor, however, were six major-conference teams: Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon State, Rutgers, South Carolina and TCU.

We want to give these "missing" teams equal time and consider what each of them requires to end their 0-for-the-century losing streaks. Mind you, we're not just picking on these programs for a quirk of the calendar. None of the teams listed here won any tournament games in the decade of the 1990s, either. It's fair to say, then, that the dry spells described here are of considerable duration.
