From 5,000/1 to champions: Leicester City's season in tweets

Leicester City's nine-month journey from underdogs to Premier League champions has already been referred to as the most extraordinary sporting victory in history

With odds of 1 to 5,000, the midlands's team victory has shocked even its most devout fans.

Here is a look at how the talk has changed on Twitter as the season developed:

First up is Gary Lineker whose skepticism will have him present Match of the Day in his underpants

Lineker, who scored 95 goals in 194 appearances during a seven-year career at Leicester City, made the pledge back in December as the Foxes were only two points ahead of Arsenal.

When Claudio Ranieri was appointed manager back in July Lineker tweeted "Claudio Ranieri? Really?" Little did he know...

At the beginning of the season former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen predicted the Midlands team would end up in relegation.

Comedian John Bishop however had a hunch right from the start.

So did Leicester City fans who appeared impressed by their team's first performance.

As winter got closer the Jamie Vardy phenomenon grew bigger and bigger as Leicester City's number nine became the first player to score in 11 consecutive Premier League matches.

At this point Lineker, and many others, expected the Foxes' tilt for glory to fizzle out.

Less than two months later he was no longer so sure.

Confidence grew and Ranieri's "Pizza and Dilly Dong" style of coaching got increasingly more and more attention and praises.

The fairy tale started looking more and more real.

Leicester City secured a historic qualification to the group stage of the following season's Champions League.

And the unthinkable happened.

Leicester City, Champions of England.
