TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The screening of Imam Tantowi’s colossal-fiction-action film Saur Sepuh IV: Titisan Darah Biru (Words of Ancestors: Incarnation of Blue Blood)—produced in 1991—will be a part of a series of events in Purbalingga Film Festival to be held from April 30 to May 28, 2016. The film, which was made in 16 mm celluloid format, will be screened in 18 villages in Purbalingga District.

“We have chosen Saur Sepuh IV because the film was one of the four series made by Imam Tantowi. He is Indonesia’s legendary filmmaker and [Saur Sepuh IV] is one of the most phenomenal film series in Indonesia,” said Director of CLC Purbalingga and Purbalingga Film Festival, Bowo Leksono, as quoted by Bisnis.com.

The film was nominated in Indonesia Film Festival 1991 for artistic arrangement and editing. All in all, the film was considered progressive compared to its predecessors in musical arrangement.

Saur Sepuh IV: Titisan Darah was focused on the second generation of Madangkara Kingdom featuring Raden Wanapati, Raden Bentar, dan Garnis Waningyun. The film was starred by Adi Kuncoro as Wanapati, Candy Satrio as Bentar and Devi Permatasari as Garnis Waningyun.

Purbalingga Film Festival is one of a few remaining film festivals in Indonesia. This year’s festival will be the 10th one to have been organized. The festival has produced short fictional and documentary films made by young filmmakers in Greater Banyumas who went on to step up to national level.

In addition to screening of old films, Purbalingga Film Festival will also feature a competition of short fictional and documentary films made by Greater Banyumas students. Every year, the winner of this competition will compete at the national level.

“We want to directly familiarize film industry as a quality viewing to the public; without boundaries,” said the manager of Purbalingga Film Festival, Nanki Nirmanto.
