Oregon Ducks Use Seven Run 2nd Inning To Beat Oregon State

The Oregon Ducks beat Oregon State 7-6 on Wednesday night, ending a four game losing streak.

The bottom of the second inning saw an explosion by the Oregon Offense that put up seven runs. Stephen Packard hit a double to start the inning, and mistakes by Oregon State loaded the bases. Travis Monoit made it a three run inning and a few batters later it was 7-0 as Nick Catalano had an RBI single. Oregon had 9 hits and 4 walks and made a good part of them count.

Head Coach George Horton used eight pitchers on the night and Cole Stringer started things off with two shutout innings. The Ducks struck out 10 Oregon State batters. For some, it was about getting in some work, for others it was opportunity. Closer Stephen Nagosek threw the final inning. The score was 7-6 and he picked up the save after giving up a hit and a run, but secured is 10th save of the year.

Seven of the nine Oregon Starters had at least one hit in the game. Austin Grebeck flashed some Defense in the game throwing out a runner at third base from Center field. Oregon now needs to take the momentum from their game against the Beavers and rebuild a winning streak.
