NFL Draft week is nearly upon us and following two big trades over the last week, most notably the Titans trading the #1 overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams. Earlier this week the Philadelphia Eagles made a deal that would give them the #2 pick. Both teams are expected to select a Quarterback.

Last season, one of the top Quarterbacks, Marcus Mariota, was not in Chicago for the NFL Draft, but remained in Hawaii surrounded by friends and family. DeForest Buckner will follow Mariota’s in the former Oregon Quarterbacks footsteps and also not attend the NFL Draft festivities next weekend according to 247Sports.

Buckner was featured on ESPN this week in their Sport Science segment and he certainly opened my eyes as to the reasons why he could be one of the top picks in the Draft. He also signed an endorsement deal this week with Nike making him the second former Oregon player to sign. Marcus Mariota also signed with NIKE last Spring.

Buckner was listed on the board behind Ohio State’s Joey Bosa, but of late has overtaken him according to some.

"“I’m hearing from San Diego, Dallas, Jacksonville and Tennessee pretty regularly. There’s some other teams too but those are the strongest right now. ”DeForest Buckner On What Team’s He Is Hearing From Ahead Of The NFL Draft(via 247Sports)"

The first five selections in the NFL Draft are now the Rams(1), Eagles(2), Chargers(3), Cowboys(4) and Jaguars(5). I would expect Buckner is still available at 7, that the San Franciso 49ers and Chip Kelly would pounce and the chance to have a key cog in their Defensive Line.
