#1118: The Price of Everything and the Value of Nothing

April 22, 2016

Notes from the Manager

Related Strips: #1117: If We Stand Together, We Win

The title comes from an Oscar Wilde quote: “What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.” Has there ever been a more incisive wit than Wilde? (THE ANSWER IS NO.)

Another great, relevant quote I found while trying to figure out a title for this strip was from writer and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan (in Good Housekeeping of all places): “Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try.”
