51-year-old living legend Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) is looking for a major fight and went to the social networks to reveal that he accepted a catch-weight showdown with IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Golovkin returns on April 23rd in an IBF mandatory defense against Dominic Wade at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Hopkins has been inactive since losing a twelve round decision to Sergey Kovalev in their light heavyweight unification in November of 2014.

Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, told BoxingScene.com that Hopkins would only become an option if champions Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders were unavailable.

Golovkin's return in the fall is tentative against the winner of the May 7th bout between Canelo and Amir Khan. The WBC has ordered the Canelo-Khan winner to reach a deal with Golovkin, should he win in April with Wade.

Hopkins then took shots at WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, claiming the Canadian star avoid the possibility of fighting him and instead will elect to fight Andrzej Fonfara in a rematch in May or June.

Stevenson's promoter, Yvon Michel of GYM, told reporters in Canada that Hopkins was never under consideration for Stevenson's next fight.

"Let's talk!!! I'm 51 had a great career. I want to fight one more time soon before I shut it down!!!  I don't turn down any fights. I'm old school fighter. I fought Krusher Kovalev, he's a great strong tough fighter!!! He's a great champ and friend," Hopkins stated.

"[There] was talk about me and Gennady Golovkin!! I would've came down and he would've came up. I did accept the fight. Now this Adonis Stevenson isn't a real champ!! I said I'd fight him in Canada. He don't want to fight me!!! He wants to rematch a guy he beat."
