Last week, Undertale's creator revealed that Nintendo approached him about possibly porting his game. Toby Fox tweeted out that he's interested in a Wii U port, but he's not a programmer and Game Maker doesn't have an option to export projects for use on Nintendo platforms. This news was met with excitement from fans of the role playing title, a number of whom have expressed interested in a 3DS version. Indie developer Broken Rules has since extended an offer to Fox to do the necessary programming to bring Undertale to the Wii U.
Broken Rules already has experience with the Wii U, having ported Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition to the platform. The developer also created the launch titlte Chasing Aurora for the Wii U, so it isn't like they have no experience in programming game from scratch compared to just porting existing code. Fox hasn't issued a statement in response to the offer.
Things are looking up for Undertale fans. If Fox decides not to work with Broken Rules, there's always the possibility another developer may extend a similar offer. If a deal is reached, Wii U owners could be experiencing the beloved title sooner rather than later.
