Who's ready for more Undertale? Nintendo seems to be keen on the idea, as the game's creator Toby Fox announced on Twitter that the company had reached out to him. Apparently, Fox had already contacted Nintendo months ago about possibly doing a Wii U port of the title. Once word got out that Nintendo's developer support contacted Fox, the rumor mill began running wild with speculation that Undertale would be heading to Wii U or the 3DS.
There's just one catch that slows the rumor mill down a bit. Toby Fox created Undertale in Game Maker, which doesn't export to Nintendo platforms, and he doesn't know anything about actual programming. That being said, Fox is open to giving a Wii U port a shot. He isn't making any promises at the moment, so fans will just have to wait and see if anything comes of Nintendo's contact.
Whether the game would come to 3DS was briefly touched on in the ensuing Twitter conversation with fans, but Fox has no ideas how to use the handheld's second screen and would feel guilty about not using it in some way, so if Undertale does find its way to consoles it would most likely be on the Wii U. Nothing's set in stone, so don't be too disappointed if Undertale stays on Steam instead of branching out to consoles.
It's surreal that it's newsworthy that a Nintendo rep tweeted at me. I actually already talked to Nintendo about a port months ago... ^^;;
