Even though no one on Capitol Hill is talking about it, unless it is stopped, the provisions of The Real ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13, 119 Stat 392), through the Department of Homeland Security, will require the federalization of State-issued driver's licenses by May 11, 2011.

This is the type of card the Nazi's and the communists in the Soviet Union made people carry.

The new cards, disguised as a uniform drivers' license, will be biometric. Each card will store up to a gigabyte of personal data about the card holder AND will contain a GPS tracking chip---so that means the government will know where you are at all times.

Looks like the moment we've all been waiting for may be here. The National ID Card! Don't leave home without it! (If you know whats good for you, that is.) You'll need it ready to show your friendly local Gestapo agents anytime, anywhere, anyplace. Comes complete with its very own tracking device, and all of your personal info they can fit into a gigabyte of space. So don't delay, get your new serf card today.

I'm wondering if this can and will be connected later on to the "Internet ID". One size fits all.

In Less Than 90 Days...

as much as i need the united states to be strong for my business to succeed, honestly... i think if it broke apart and started over, the world would be better off.

the entire country is on a rapid downhill path, and there is no saving it.

It is too late. At least, thats how EVERYONE seems to feel, even the wealthy people in charge.

Well, right now the U.S.A is on life support, and the bill is getting higher every day.
Shouldn't be much time left. I just wonder if it the united states' collapses, will it become more than 1 country or integrated into other countries?

Using technology to enslave us has been a running theme.
It can ALWAYS be defeated.
Everytime!

But I'm sure the masses will just gobble it up as they so predictably do everytime
someone proposes to enslave us further.

USA USA USA USA!

Ya know as a licensed CDL driver I kind of already had to do that.... and it was a royal pain too!!!
Look I have the Haz Mat endorsement right so I can haul a tanker of gas or some-such... well nowadays that haz mat requires I have my fingerprints taken and sent off to Washington where the Department of homeland security decides if they want to give me that Lic.... took 90 days and cost me $125 out of pocket... just a little heads up to what you all might face someday

I would say they have had these made up for a long time already. And probably a lot more than 300 million.

First thing I do when I get my card is stick it in the microwave and fry the chips.

Wait, so does this mean come May 11, we will be required to get this? Or will it be given out when your license expires?

Won't happen.

Too many states are against the REAL ID act. Many of the newly elected Governors are against it. Many people just do not have IDs, and we cannot require them to carry one. I hope some idiot does ask me for ID sometime when I am not driving.

Thats not quite all of it. The law is designed to make sure state issued IDs are up to certain guide lines for "security". States do not have to comply however those that don't have the proper IDs won't be flying. As the feds won't accept those that don't meet their requirements.

After 2011, "a Federal agency may not accept, for any official purpose, a driver's license or identification card issued by a state to any person unless the state is meeting the requirements" specified in the REAL ID Act. States remain free to also issue non-complying licenses and IDs, so long as these have a unique design and a clear statement that they cannot be accepted for any Federal identification purpose. The federal Transportation Security Administration is responsible for security check-in at airports, so bearers of non-compliant documents would no longer be able to travel on common carrier aircraft without additional screening unless they had an alternative government-issued photo ID.[14] People born on or after December 1, 1964, will have to obtain a REAL ID by December 1, 2014. Those born before December 1, 1964, will have until December 1, 2017 to obtain their REAL ID.[15] The national license/ID standards cover: * How the states must share their databases. * What data must be included on the card; * What documentation must be presented before a card can be issued; and Strictly speaking, many of these requirements are not new. They replace similar language in Section 7212 of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (Pub.L. 108-458), which had not yet gone into effect before being repealed by the Real ID Act.

en.wikipedia.org...

Nothing about 1gb of data or GPS or other fear mongering.
It mainly appears to be an effort to stop illegal immigrants from getting Real ID cards and link data bases.

I can say I won't ever be getting one of these required or not and I know lots and lots of others that would be taking the same stance I just don't see it as something they can "get away with" if they try it will probably lead to an angry uncooperative population. I have lived off the grid before and I will do it again if need be!

Does not mean you won't be flying, but it does mean you will have a few more hoops to jump through.. It doesn't say you won't be permitted to fly.

That's why I bolded may in the OP. I'm with you. I'm not so sure they can make this fly, no matter what kind of wings they put on it.
